Always Busy, Even When We're Not...

The weeks following the Daddy Daughter Dance were slow; Macie and I spent our days at school and at soccer.  Even though we didn't have much going on, Mom made sure to capture everything through pictures.

Here I am dressed and ready for soccer practice one afternoon.  I am not sure why Mom didn't find this appropriate; doesn't everyone wear lipstick and headbands on the field???

There are some moments when she fears that I am growing up too fast.

Then there are moments when I remind her that I am still a little girl playing dress up...

Either way, she still insists that time is flying by way too fast.  Maybe that's why she takes SO many pictures.

I'm sure it is apparent, but I really don't mind the time in front of the camera.

Macie doesn't shy away from the camera either.  In fact, there are some mornings when we are running behind, when she insists Mom stops and takes her picture before we rush off to school.

Presley still has some kinks to work out- she can't quite seem to get the poses right, but she sure gives it her all!

She is becoming quite the ham...

Every now and again Mom manages to get Nixon looking at the camera.  He just doesn't seem to have the time to stand still...

For every 100 pictures taken Mom is able to get about 10 usable shots, but boy are those shots keepers!!!

At the end of the month our school celebrated reading week.  Mom signed up to decorate Macie's classroom and, in true Mom fashion, she went overboard.  The theme was Star Wars, but despite her lack of knowledge surrounding the movie, she was able to create some incredible decorations.

The sign above the door not only had blinking lights to mimic stars in space, but there was a speaker that played the Star Wars theme on repeat!

Here are some of the characters that she created by hand:

Storm Trooper (made out of plastic plates and poster board)

C3P0 (made out of gift bags)

BB8

R2D2 (more gift bags)

Luke (yarn and fabric)

Leia (yarn and fabric)

Chewbacca (yarn, pipe cleaners, and a teddy bear- yes she skinned one to get his fur)

Yoda (a St.Patty's Day top hat with cotton balls and fabric)

Macie's class LOVED their decorations, and Mom was glad all the Star Wars fans approved!

The last day of reading week was Star Wars dress up day.  Macie and I were thrilled!  Two days before, we sprung our outfit choices on Mom, and she didn't have much time to put costumes together.  Thank goodness she is crafty and has a garage FULL of fabric, because we both went to school ecstatic!

Here I am dressed up as Rey:

Here is Macie dressed as Princess Leia- she really got into character...

After reading week we took a break from school to make a quick trip to Disneyland.  Check back soon to see and hear all about it!
