First Few Weeks of School

After a fantastic summer it was really difficult to switch gears to "school mode"

We returned home from California late on a Friday night and after a short weekend of preparation school began Monday morning.  Poor Mom has to get 3 girls dressed and ready for school this year, so there will be no time for messing around. Presley has been SOOOO excited to start her first year of pre school! She will only go 4 days a week for 2 hours, but she can't wait to play with new friends.
Despite our enthusiasm, it was difficult getting up Monday morning.  Because all of us were anxious to get out the door, we ate quickly and getting ready took less than 30 minutes for all 4 of us.  We had so much extra time that we posed for some pictures before getting in the car.

First Day of Pre School:

First Year with TWO WHOLE HOURS ALONE at home:

First Day of Fourth Grade:

First Day of Second Grade:

Mom was totally in her element getting all our school supplies and gear this year.  We helped pick out fancy back packs and lunch sacks, and Mom added some extra bling where it was needed.

She had the most fun designing our notebook covers and decorating our supplies.

She glammed up everything; from notebooks and folders to pencil pouches and desk boxes.  She even made my eraser fancy!

At school we brought Presley to the pre school area and gave her big hugs before running off to find our friends on the playground.

Mom and Dad stayed with Presley and watched her dominate on the playground.  The kid has no fear and was all smiles as she introduced herself to everyone.

Macie was excited to have the same teacher I had in second grade, Mrs.Dawkins, and was happy to recognize some friends in her class from last year.

I was excited when I discovered that not only was Cari, my best friend, in my class, but so was my friend Trinity.

When the bell rang Mom, Dad, and Nixon left.  Apparently they sighed, taking a short moment to be sad that we were gone, and then went on with their day- no tears from anyone!

By the time they made it back home and Mom had cleaned the kitchen and the bedrooms it was already time to pick up Presley.

Seeing her face as she ran out the door was priceless:

When she is happy she can light up a room.

We all had a successful first day, and really enjoyed our first week.

At the end of the week we were all ready for a break, and Presley and Nixon were glad to be back together in the mornings.

Over the weekend we enjoyed some downtime together as a family.  There were all sorts of silly shenanigans taking place at the Frankwick's...

On Monday we were back to our normal routine...

Tuesday was pirate day and Mom scraped together pieces from different outfits to make Macie and Presley's outfits.  Macie was dissapointed that weapons were banned, but Mom reminded her that Presley DID NOT need to bring weapons to school...

Despite her sweet smile she is ruthless with a weapon.

Mom was unable to put something together for me, so she bought a boys costume at Costco and deconstructed it.  She added a lace breast piece and lace flutter sleeves to the top, feathers and skulls to the hat, and cuffed the pants with leather trim and lace ruffles.  I LOVED my fancy pirate costume!

While we are at school Mom and Dad spend lots of time with Nixon.  His favorite thing to do is play the drums in Dad's office!!!

Our days follow the same routine each week.  With school, soccer, theater, and Friday trips to the museum we are busy with day to day activities!

Mom's loves the days when our mornings run smoothly and everyone smiles.

When all four of us get along life couldn't be better!

For school picture day this year Mom let us pick out of own outfits!  She was impressed with the fancy pieces we chose.

Some mornings are more hectic than others, and picture day was one of them.  On those days we are grateful for Macie who provides some much needed comic relief.

So far we have managed to make it our the door everyday on time.  There is a little more yelling than we'd like, but hopefully soon the chaos of our mornings will die down.  Mom is just grateful that we allow her to take pictures before school every morning.

Our first few weeks of school have been great and we are all enjoying our classes and friends.  The family is trying to enjoy these mellow September days because come October life is going to get crazy busy!!!
