Best Month of the WHOLE Year!

Our family welcomed the month of October with open arms.  The cold air, the spooky decor, the CANDY; what's not to love?!?!?
The first weekend of the month we decorated the house and yard!  Presley DID NOT like the "scary guys", but Mom kept her fingers crossed that she would get used to them.  Macie and I didn't have much going outside of school, but we knew that the weeks to come would bring all sorts of fun.

Mom took full advantage of the Holiday season by dressing us up throughout the month.  Here are a couple of our favorites:

Even Nixon dressed up from time to time:

While we were keeping busy at school,Presley and Nixon took full advantage of the fantastic weather and their days at home with Mom with lots of walks and trips to the park!

Some days Presley manages to finagle Uncle Will into taking her to Chuck E Cheese while Nixon naps at home with Mom.

They just got a new train ride, so Presley will ride around non-stop.  Even after the 30th straight ride the novelty hasn't worn off yet...

During one of their "routine" shopping trips at Costco this month, Presley found her newest desire: a car.  Mom couldn't stop laughing when Presley told her that this was the car she wanted to buy when she was big.  Good luck meeting her standards boys...

We started our month of Halloween fun with a trip to the Springs Preserve! They had EVERYTHING; a corn maze, a haunted train, carnival games, a petting zoo- what more could we ask for???

There were so many wonderful things to do and see!

Collectively, we were most looking forward to the haunted train ride.  We sat down and were eager to see the spooky sites.

Presley had a huge smile on her face as the train started down the track.

A few minutes in we were a little dissapointed.  The decorations were sporadic and juvenile.

Riley was clearly bored...

At least Nixon enjoyed the ride- he was shrieking the whole time.

After the train ride we toured all the Halloween attractions.  Presley's favorite place was the petting zoo.  She was absolutely fascinated with the goats.

Mom was grateful that all the animals were friendly because she couldn't keep her hands off them.

I was much more gentle with the animals.  Mom thinks they appreciated that.

We had a fantastic time at the Springs Preserve (regardless of the disappointing train), and left with big smiles.

The following weekend my school held its annual Halloween carnival.  Mom wouldn't let us wear our Halloween costumes to the carnival, so we got to dig in our treasure trove of costumes.  We were allowed to wear anything that fit- Mom was a little surprised, but pleased, by our choices.

We went to the carnival with our good friend Helaina and Macie and I were excited to introduce her to our school friends (she is our neighbor and goes to a different school).

As soon as we got inside Helaina, Macie, and I took Presley and went to play some games- she was really excited...

Poor Nixon had to hang back with Mom and he was not thrilled in the least.  Now that he is mobile, he rarely likes to be still.

The 4 of us spent a few hours playing carnival games, dancing, doing crafts, and eating snacks!

Before leaving, we got to grab our treat bags and trick or treat!  Tons of decorated cars lined the field handing out candy.

Presley's favorites were the Frozen and Disney displays (who would have thought).

After the carnival, the family went to lifetime's annual Spooktacular Halloween event.  There were all sorts of fun things to keep us busy and moving.  From bounce houses and slides to obstacle courses and holiday fitness games- we had a blast.

The next morning we watched some Halloween cartoons and made foam haunted houses!

We spent most of our Sunday doing crafts and making tasty science treats.

The week of Halloween was filled with all sorts of fun.  We watched holiday movies, ate holiday treats, and made sure to visit all the holiday attractions around town.

One of our favorite places for fun was the pumpkin patch.

There were carnival rides, games, and food, and Cari, Macie, Presley, and I spent 3 full hours laughing, running, jumping, and playing!

We all took turns riding the carnival rides.

Mom was a little concerned with the safety of some of the rides.  She was grateful that Presley had the big girls to protect her...

Presley couldn't have had more fun if she tried.  She had a smile on her face the whole entire time!

The corn maze was a fun way to drain our energy. We ran in and out again and again.

Presley and Macie were both ecstatic that they had pony rides at the pumpkin patch and each talked Mom into a ride (she is a total sucker)!

By dusk the inflatable slides were all blown up and the 4 of us spent the remainder of our time going over and over again.  Mom couldn't stop laughing at Presley's little face as she jumped, flipped, and slid (we loved the fact that there weren't many rules).

On the way out we each picked out a pumpkin to take home.  Poor Nixon was beyond frustrated and couldn't wait to get out of the stroller.

Now that Nixon is mobile, Mom has to think ahead when she makes plans for the day.  He doesn't want to be held, or restrained, and let's everyone around him know when he is upset.

Some mornings, Mom takes the kids to the Children's Museum.  Nixon and Presley both love the Thomas the Train exhibit!

There were "miles" of track to play with, and Nixon loved the fact that Presley was across the room and couldn't take his trains away.

Presley wasn't interested in other parts of the exhibit and spent most of her time playing on the tracks while Nixon enjoyed everything!

They also enjoy the water room!!!

When Nixon needs some down time we take him to the toddler room where he can relax.

At home there isn't much relaxing.  Nixon is all over the place!!!

One of his favorite things to do is open the kitchen cabinets and throw everything all over the floor.  Mom loves it when he does that...

You would think that Mom is used to all sorts of crazy shenanigans with 4 kids, but apparently we still baffle her with our antics...

Since Mom was all about dressing up, I thought I'd take advantage.  I have been asking for SO long for Mom to make my hair SUPER curly, so, in the spirit of dressing up, she put my hair in over 30 rollers.  I was SOOOO excited to see what it would look like.

That morning I was thrilled when the rollers came out and my head was covered in curls!!!

Mom is lucky that Macie is low maintenance.  Simple pig tails make her happy!

Halloween was fast approaching, and we were all getting really excited!

At school we had a Halloween parade.  We weren't allowed to wear our costumes to school, but we could bring one to put over our clothes.  Mom was frustrated and helped us choose costumes that we could easily put on without help.  Macie chose to be Snow White, while I chose to be the 100 year old version of myself (the same one Mom made me for my 100th day at Sonoran Sky).  We had to carry our costume and our props to school...

Mom was pretty impressed when she showed up to the school parade and discovered that we had dressed ourselves quite nicely.

After the parade, Mom joined us in our classrooms and met some of our new friends.

We CAN'T wait for the Halloween.  Presley keeps walking around practicing her trick or treating; its priceless. Check back soon to see the real thing!
