At home in the hot sun Macie and I found different ways to keep ourselves amused. From playing silly games around the house,
to runnin' through the yard and playin' on the slip-n-slide, we have had a BLAST.
Sometimes even Mom couldn't help but laugh at the silly things we came up with (Dad knows better than to leave his clothes lying around)...
One of our favorite things to do indoors is play instruments. Dad is glad that we are expressing an interest in music, and intends to create a music studio inside the house!
Macie usually sticks to playing the drums (although she does play a mean air guitar) and does some back up vocals from time to time,
I am ALWAYS lead vocals- Here I am as Riley Van Halen belting out the lyrics to Panama (one of my new favorite songs.)
My summer camp experience at Lifetime ended with a full week at Cheer Camp! I learned some pretty sweet dance moves...
We can't seem to get enough of Lifetime Fitness and spend lots of time there. We love to lounge by the pool and make friends- Macie has even picked up a few dudes along the way...
A week before we were scheduled to leave for our birthday trip to California, Dad had to make a quick last minute trip to Las Vegas to do some work at his new club in Summerlin. He persuaded us to join him, so in a frenzy, Mom packed up our stuff and the family made the 5 hour drive. We arrived late at night, but Macie and I managed to open our eyes long enough to stare at the bright lights of the famous Las Vegas strip.
In the morning while Dad went to work Mom, Macie, and I put on our swim suits and drove down to the MGM Grand to spend a morning at the pool. Here we are waiting for the pool to open...
We settled in to some lawn chairs by the wading pool and had a snack before going for a swim.
We had a fun time splashing around in the pool, and Macie became a little more comfortable in the water (the depth was perfect for her to practice)...
We swam for an hour before I needed another snack, and happily sat on my lawn chair and bathed in the sun.
The following day we did some more lounging poolside at our hotel- I have quickly adapted to this lifestyle and told Mom I wanted to stay forever...
In the afternoon we drove over to see Dad and check out his new 3 story health club. Macie turned on the charm right when she walked in the door, waving and singing the chorus to Rock and Roll Aint Noise Pollution. Mom jokingly nicknamed her "Macie/DC!
I went as "Riley Van Halen"- that way I could get away with yelling and shrieking since David Lee Roth lets out some pretty high pitch vocal yells.
The Lifetime in Summerlin was a great club, and all of us enjoyed our visit. After eating dinner in the Lifetime Cafe Mom put Macie to bed in the hotel room while Dad and I went downstairs to tour the Casino at the JW Marriott. I had a blast walking through the waterfalls, meeting new friends and seeing the sights.
Before returning to the room Dad and I made a quick stop by Mrs.Fields and I enjoyed my very first Ice Cream Sandwich- it was the best thing ever!
I passed out quickly once I got back to my room and didn't wake until the morning! After having breakfast in bed, we played in our own room while Mom got dressed in hers. Macie and I had a blast running around, climbing, and jumping on the beds;
we could both get used to this...
Before leaving town we decided to spend the morning at Lifetime lounging by the pool. Dad got his work done early and was able to join us!
and after a while she learned how to blow bubbles and kick:
I didn't need much coaching, look at me swim across the pool:
I was very proud of my skills at the pool that day!!!
Cleaned up and ready for fun, the family got on the road. Mom heard a rumor that there were some mermaids swimming at a hotel nearby, so Dad pulled out his phone and did some research. After driving all over town we finally found the illustrious location- the Silverton Resort and Casino (way off the strip, and kinda WT.)
Macie and I ran over to the tank just as a mermaid was swimming through the coral. We waved to her, yelling excited "hello's"!
She must of seen us, or heard us (we were really loud), because she came right over to us to wave and blow kisses!
Before leaving she made a heart with her hands and pointed at us- Mom told me she was speaking sign language and actually said "I love you"!
Seeing a real life mermaid was one of the greatest moments of my life, and I am so grateful that Mom and Dad drove all over town so that Macie and I could share this experience!
We are home in Arizona for a day and a half before leaving for California, but our time at home will be nothing close to low key or boring...you will see...
