Fall in San Diego

Fall break was lots of fun and getting back to the grind was not something any of us were looking forward to.  Thankfully our first week back at school was spirit week so at least we got to dress up at school every day.  Sports day was first.  Presley was THRILLED to wear my old soccer uniform from her days as a Butterfly,

and I jumped at the chance to wear my Staton Cheerleading outfit.

Macie was just grateful that she got to wear a soccer uniform to school without a fight (she would choose to wear one everyday if she could).

Crazy Hair Day was another favorite.  Presley scrolled through Pinterest until she adamantly declared that she wanted her hair to resemble a spider.  One bun, eight braids, and two googly eyes later Presley had her spider and couldn't have been happier with her choice.

I got creative and decided to take advantage of all my sequin Jo Jo Siwa bows.  I had mom part my hair into 8 sections which she placed in ponytails.  Once the bows were in we couldn't help but notice how much my hairdo looked like a mohawk.  We jokingly coined the phrase "BOW-HAWK" and were pretty proud of ourselves for the clever play on words.

Mom even gave Nixon crazy hair.  He thought it was funny but REFUSED to leave the house looking that way.

Red Day wasn't too thrilling, but we made the most of it.

Nixon wanted in on the photo action and paired his boxer shorts with dragon wings for the win!

Thursday was pajama day and it was our favorite day.  All we had to do was roll out of bed!!!

At the end of the week kindergarteners all got to have 50's day.  Ironically it was the ONE genre/era from which we had absolutely nothing. Never the less,  Mom couldn't wait to create Presley a 50's style costume.  For the first time ever she actually used a pattern and discovered how easy making things could be...

All the kindergarteners loved having a 50's theme dance party.  Presley couldn't stop showing off her moves to all the boys.

After school we carved pumpkins at the house to finish preparing for Halloween.

Over the weekend Mom took Tayler and I to meet up with my friends at the Haunted Trail in Balboa Park.  I was SO excited to go to my first haunted house!

Surprisingly it wasn't that scary to me.  I enjoyed the sets and costumes, but man, the boys sure screamed like a bunch of sissies!!

On Monday Presley modeled different Halloween looks before choosing which one to wear to school.  Mom loves her enthusiasm.

On Halloween our household woke up read for a day of fun and excitement (and candy, scary movies, etc.) Unfortunately school policy says that we aren't able to wear Halloween costumes to school so Mom got clever and decided to let us dress up as things that could pass as our usual school attire.

Macie (posing with Coco dressed as a unicorn) chose to wear a soccer jersey that she usually is unable to wear,

Presley went as Jo Jo Siwa (which could not have been any cuter),

and I dressed as my friend Cora.  We traded outfits and paid attention to every detail- we even switched backpacks and lunch totes.

Mom got creative that morning (as she does every holiday) and made sure our lunches were filled with Halloween themed food; ghost pizzas, mini hot dogs wrapped in a "mummy" pastry, marshmallow zombies, and skeleton Cheetos.

Nixon enjoyed the holiday snack most of all!

Eager after school, we rushed home and quickly transformed ourselves into this years current obsession.

Macie was a zombie soccer player,

I was a possessed doll,

and Presley and Nixon went as Kai and Zane from the Lego Ninjago Movie.

Mom tried her best to persuade them to choose other costumes, but they were adamant and could not be swayed in the slightest.

Mom and Dad took Presley and Nixon trick or treating with friends while Macie and I went with ours this year.

It was a fun night for all of us and Macie continued to play her part long after the costume was taken off...

Saturday morning, bright and early, the family rallied with the Garretts to support Nixon and Hayden at soccer.  We are so lucky to have such great friends that are becoming more and more like family.

After a fun morning we spent the afternoon at our school Halloween Carnival.

It was awesome.  Games, treats,

trucks,

and chickens!!!

Thanks to some fantastic fall weather in San Diego our family spent the next day at the beach with friends.

Despite the chilly water we all went in for some waves!

Sunday night we had cotillion.  I get so excited for each and every class!

November was flying by quickly and before we knew it Thanksgiving week was rapidly approaching.  Our family was super thrilled when Uncle Will arrived for his holiday visit.  His first morning in San Diego he had a SUPER SPECIAL SURPRISE for Presley.  Listen as she reads the cards to discover the surprise....

All of her efforts had paid off and she was traveling to Disneyland for a day of fun and celebration now that she was a fabulous reader!!!

Uncle Will said that she had a fantastic day and loved every minute of it!

It was Presley's first time riding any of the big rollercoasters and we were crossing our fingers...

Thunder Mountain was her first ride

and she ABSOLUTELY loved it!

As it turns out, she is a rollercoaster junkie!  Space Mountain turned out to be her favorite ride of the day- so much so they waited in line twice so that she could ride again.

As much as she loved the thrill rides she also made sure to visit all the other attractions.

Pa was thrilled when she told him she visited the Tiki Room and got a Dole Whip.

By 9:30 pm Presley was winding down but still had a big smile on her face as they rode the tram from the park.

She was so exhausted that she fell asleep on the 5 minute stroller ride to the car.  Will said she had a fantastic day and was incredibly well behaved even when she got tired.

After a day of relaxing at home with the family Thanksgiving was here. Will and Mom took their annual turkey prepping pictures to document all their hard work.

After prepping food in the morning, Mom took us all on a walk up to the cross for some exercise and relaxation with the Garretts.  It was the perfect way to start the holiday.

Dinner with the family was awesome and we definitely had lots to be thankful for.

After dinner that night the whole family lounged on the couch and spent time watching a holiday movie.

The next day, while Mom cleaned up the aftermath, Uncle Will and I went to Sea World for some rides on the Electric Eel.  We both agreed that it never gets old!

On Sunday afternoon we had cotillion and I was again reminded how many people I have in my life that I am thankful for.

The last week of November was filled with rain.  As kids who aren't used to rain we were thrilled!  Presley and I loved the extra accessories we got to carry and wear.

Now that December is here the decorating for Christmas has begun.  We can't wait to spend the whole month decorating, singing, and celebrating!
