School is ALMOST out for Summer!!!

The school year flew by and before we knew it summer was almost here!  Mom can't get over how much has changed this year and how grown up we have all become.  Can you believe that I am going to be a sixth grader next year???   Mom adores the fact that I love to dress like a middle aged aristocrat but is grateful that I still enjoy the perks of being a kid.

With only 6 weeks left of school the academic year was winding down.  I had to give a presentation to my class on "how to do something" and chose to teach everyone how to make a bow (I could see the pride in Mom's eyes when I told her my choice).  I love projects and could spend all day creating!

Another favorite project of mine was making a shoe box model of a biome.  I chose the Taiga and loved the finished product.

While I stayed busy with school work Macie was reaping the benefits of crushing her grade level expectations for the year in math, reading, and PE. She didn't have any required work left to complete so she spent most of her afternoons playing at home, working on her soccer skills, and watching her new favorite sport, hockey!  The Las Vegas Golden Knights stole her heart early this year and she has intently sat and watched every game she could.

Dad and Macie have been spending weekends at soccer and her hard work is paying off.

Her team has been to the finals in their last 4 tournaments and won 3.  Their most satisfying win was taking home the Liverpool cup (a tournament that her club hosts).

At Murdock we don't have lots of dress up days so I was super excited for Spirit Week!!!

Western Day:

Class Choice Day; mine choose nerd with stuffed animal so I made sure my bear and I were dressed as twins,

and Macie's class chose sports and stuffed animal day.  Macie was thrilled to wear a jersey to school, but even more thrilled to bring her new Build A Bear creation, Hockey Bear.

Green Day:

White Day:

Even though Presley and Nixon don't have designated theme days every day is dress up when you have a Mom like ours...

Mid month our best friends from Arizona came out for a quick weekend visit.  We always enjoy our time with the Ketcham's and this trip didn't disappoint.

While Jonathan and Andrea were at a wedding Saturday Mom took all 6 of us to the beach for some afternoon castle building and fun in the sun.

Everyone worked hard together to create a large city complete with our own individual homes, a large moat, and a lake, all with bariers made to help it survive the night tides.

It took Nixon a while to get the hang of using a shovel, but eventually he got and turned out to be one of the best workers...

On Sunday, Mother's Day, our families spent a fantastic day together at Sea World.

The new Electric Eel roller coaster opened that morning and we were some of the first people to ride.  It was AMAZING!!!

Presley was thrilled to discover that she was tall enough to ride some of the bigger rides including, her new favorite, the roaring rapids.

We are so grateful our friends were able to join us for some fun.

A few days after the Ketcham's went back to Arizona Aunt Hayley, Jensen, and Uncle John came for a visit.  We couldn't wait to spend time with Jensen now that he walks, talks, and isn't so fragile.

For our first excursion Presley and Nixon took him to Sea World.

Mom couldn't get enough of Nixon and his Marty McFly getup and grin...

Jensen loved riding the rides for the first time!

That weekend we had a birthday party with family to celebrate Jensen's 2nd birthday.  The house was full of kids and Mom loved not having to stress over anyone making a mess (since everything is being torn out eventually).

While Mom cleaned up the yard the following morning Nixon worked on some of his new dance moves...

Uncle Will arrived in town the next day and we all went down to the beach to spend time with Aunt Hayley before she went back to Arizona.

It was a fun beach day with family.

In the evening we made a bonfire, roasted marshmallows and made smores.

Everyone agreed that Mom has perfected the art of the perfect marshmallow...

Fun times were had by all!!!

The next day Presley took Uncle Will to Legoland and was thrilled to spend the day with him.  As you can see, they always have a great time together.

The week with Will went by fast but we were grateful he was able to spend some time with us.

After spending two full weeks with friends and family the house somehow seemed empty. We took some time to rest up and get ready for summer.  Every now and again Nixon would take a cat nap in the afternoons at home.  His new favorite snuggle animal is a blue snake that Presley bought for him using her birthday money.  He adores the snake mainly because he adores his big sister more than words can express. He has proudly named him Dr.Jackson Funtown Blaine Frankwick Snakey, Dr.Funtown for short.

Dr.Funtown goes around town in Nixon's dinosaur backpack and Nixon's one request was to take him to a candy store.  Mom couldn't say no to Nixon's little grin...

It was worth the efforts; he was beyond thrilled.

Saying that everyone is getting antsy for summer is an understatement.  The squirrels are restless and we can't wait for the days of endless fun that are sure to come.
