A Holiday Season to be Thankful For

We LOVE the fall season in Nevada!  The sun is out but there is a chill in the air that allows Mom to take advantage of coats, tights, furs, etc.

The week before Thanksgiving week was spirit week at school and all 4 of us enjoyed dressing up.  On Sports Day we all chose different sports Jersey's.  Presley and I both wanted to wear football jersey's, but Macie took advantage of the day and used it as an excuse to wear her soccer uniform to school (something she has actually been wanting to do for months now).

On superhero day Macie and I wore our outfits from the fall festival and Presley wore her Batman dress.

On Denim day I chose to wear a simple denim jacket,

while Mom and Dad smiled when they saw the denim ensemble Macie chose to wear...

On the last day of school before Thanksgiving break Macie had to turn in her turkey story.  Last year she made a peacock turkey, but this year she decided to make hers a MONSTER!  Mom loved helping her craft her holiday vision.

Once school was out our family drove down to San Diego to spend the holiday week with family.  The weather was phenomenal and we spent lots of time playing in the sand and building castles.

During nap time Mom, Dad, Macie, and I rented bikes and road the ENTIRE stretch of boardwalk.  Mom couldn't believe Macie and I rode over 13 hours!!!

To reward Macie and I the family walked down to the boardwalk and shared some ice cream treats together.

On the way home we stopped at Soul Grind Skateboard Shop (Paul's shop) and bought some new swag.  Dad was SO excited to use his new blanket that he opened it right away and used it on the walk home.

That night we all snuggled together on the couch and watched Trolls.

The next day we took a trip to Sea World to see the holiday shows and exhibits.

It was a beautiful day spent outdoors with family.

Mom's favorite part of the day was walking through the shark aquarium. She loved seeing the looks on the little ones faces when the big sharks swim over head.

Nixon'x favorite part of the day was touching the sharks and fish.

We could hardly keep him from climbing inside!

Back at the beach we enjoyed more time in the sun and sand.

On Thanksgiving we drove out to the Umbarger's to spend Thanksgiving day with Pa and his family.

In the early afternoon, after we had eaten a fantastic feast prepared by Grandma Jean and Aunt Connie, we heard a jingle coming from the front yard.  Mom looked out the window and shrieked with excitement.  Hers shrieks were met with similar sounds when we all saw who had come to pay us a visit- SANTA CLAUS!!!

We all had a chance to talk and visit with Santa before he had to take off to visit the next house on his list.

All the excitement and the food made us tired, so Aunt Connie turned on the TV and we vegged out while Dad took Grandma Jean to do some early Black Friday shopping.  It was a fantastic way to spend the holiday with people we love and reflect on how blessed we really are.

We spent the next two days playing at the beach before packing up and heading to Orange County.

We spent our first day at DISNEYLAND and started the fun in Fantasyland.  Nixon and Presley love Mr.Toad's Wild Ride and were thrilled to ride it twice!

After riding everything in that part of the park poor Nixon started to get sleepy.  He was glad that Dad was there to snuggle with him.

While Nixon rested a bit the rest of us rode some more rids together.

We even got to sit down with Alice and the Mad Hatter for an early morning tea party!!!

Nixon perked back up around noon and we went over to ToonTown where Nixon rode his very first roller coaster!

We spent the day riding, playing, and seeing all the sights.

When the sun set Presley and Nixon started to get sleepy from a full day, so Mom took them back to the hotel while Dad, Macie, and I enjoyed some more big kid rides.

The next morning the family started our morning at California Adventure.  While Dad, Macie, and I rode a few of the big rides Mom took Presley and Nixon on some rides in Cars Land.

We couldn't help but laugh at this picture of Nixon on a pay phone.  He was really confused by this big box on the wall...

Our trip to Disneyland was full of fun and laughter together as a family.

Unfortunately we had to drive straight home after a full day at the park.  Despite arriving home at 2am we had to be up early the next morning for choir practice and school.  Needless to say, there were lots of tired kiddos at our house that day...

It's a good thing that Macie was able to put on a great game face for school!

At night I had my first choir performance at the local Barnes and Noble.

Instead of listening like she should have, Presley browsed the store for books and toys.  When Mom went to scold her she found Presley hugging a Deadpool figurine and decided that she was just too cute for words.  I think Presley is more clever than cute- she knew just how to get at Mom's Achilles Heel.

Our first weekend back home my soccer team played in the Championships in Bullhead City.  We came in first place in our home league and did well in the tournament.

I was most excited about my cool new trophy that I had earned through hard work!

Dad took Macie and I out to eat after the games to celebrate.

With only a few short weeks of school before Christmas break we are sure to be busy.  Winter is setting in and the days are getting colder.

That still doesn't stop some of us from putting on a show each morning...

I can assure you that the next blog will be filled with stories of recitals, Christmas events, and family fun!
